All roles have the same experience on the WeSpire Engagement Platform (Content access is determined by ‣ and Groups). Roles that have access to the Management Panel have varying abilities depending on the type of Role.

In ascending order of abilities, the Roles are:

1️⃣ User Users can log in to use the employee-facing engagement site but cannot access the Management Panel. Like all roles when browsing the engagement app, the content this role sees is determined by Teams and Groups filters. To prevent users from logging in (such as when they have left the company) you can deactivate their accounts.

2️⃣ Event Manager

Event Managers can access the Events portion of the Management Panel. They'll see a truncated version of the full Management Panel menu, allowing them access to create, edit, delete, and publish events. They also have the ability to add Bulk Volunteer Hours. Event Managers can do this across all channels. To give channel-specific access, see below.

3️⃣ Channel Manager has three sub-roles:

Events Only Contributor: Can create and edit events in specified channel(s) ⓶ Channel Contributor: Can create and edit (but not publish) all Activity Types in specified channel(s) ⓷ Channel Manager: Can create, edit, publish, and delete all Activity Types in specified channel(s)

4️⃣ Group Leader

If you are using Groups feature, Group Leaders can manage their Group. They can publish Activities, send Broadcasts, post Announcements, add Files & resources, manage Group Members, To learn more about Group Administrators check out the Groups page. Group Leader has 1 sub-role:

Chapter Leader: Can do everything a Group Leader can, but only for their specific chapter, not across the Group overall.

5️⃣ Admin Admins have the highest permission level and have full access to all Management Panel features, including editing the Roles of other users. Typically only a few users have Admin permission.

Assigning Roles

When users join the site they typically start with User permissions - ie, no access to the Management Panel. Once they've joined, an Admin can elevate their permissions:

  1. Click Management on the left nav and then Edit Users

More about Channel Contributors:

When a Channel Contributor or Channel Events-Only Contributor creates Activities, they will not be able to immediately publish those activities. Instead they will see an option to “Submit for approval.” That approval process follows the steps below:

  1. Channel Contributor completes the required fields to build the Activity
  2. Channel Contributor does not see an option to "publish." They can only "Submit for Approval"
  3. When a Contributor submits an activity for approval, the Channel Manager is notified that they have an Activity to review (this notification is an email to all Channel Managers for the Channel to which the Activity is assigned -- if there is not a Channel Manager assigned, the email notification will go to all Users with Admin-level permissions)
