The Power of Teams

The team structure is how your employees will be grouped in the platform. It's what appears in your User settings page.

When setting up your Team Structure, consider the following:

1. User experience

Make it easy and quick for a User to onboard by creating a Team structure that already makes sense to most employees. Alternatively, work with your CSM to pre-populate team assignments with your HRIS file.

2. Reporting and clarity

What type of ways does your company analyze results? Make sure that your Teams Structure aligns with the performance statistics you'll want to report on. Most clients have a devision/function Team set and location-based Team set.

Also note that a Team Leaderboard is visible in the platform to show total points earned by each team. Consider ways to structure Teams to be "fair." For example, a team in your HQ is going to have a vast advantage over a team in a small remote office because of the discrepancy in the number of employees at each site.

3. Content needs

If you need to communicate with people differently based on teams or surface different content based on Teams, then there is a real argument for creating more division. But, if everyone is seeing the same content, that division holds less importance.

Managing Teams

You can use the Team Sets and Teams pages under the Management Tab to create and edit your team structure:

First, you'll define your team sets. Then, you'll add Teams to the Team Sets. You can also edit Teams and Team Sets and delete Teams (to delete Team Sets, ask your Customer Success Manager).

Team Sets

Team Sets describe the characteristics of a group of Teams. For example, in the Team Set "Cities", you would have the Teams be "Boston, Atlanta, New York, San Diego, Chicago" etc. To the right are three example Team Sets. Create new ones with the New Team Set button, and edit existing Team Sets with the edit pencil. To delete a Team Set, contact your Customer Success Manager.
