What are Volunteer Event Categories

Want to categorize your Social Impact Activities? Enter Volunteer Categories. Create categories to better feature and highlight your Volunteering events. These categories can be broad to account for all ways employees volunteer or you can align them with your company's existing Social Impact pillars.

How to create Volunteer Event Categories

Those with Admin permission can access the Management section of Management Panel. There the Volunteer Event Categories section is where an Admin can create new categories and pre-determine the order the categories are shown, by clicking the up or down arrow

Creating your categories from scratch? Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Do you want to track one type of volunteering separately from others? For example, if you have a youth mentoring program do you want that to be a category rather than something broader like education, which could cover adults too or youth enrichment which could cover any youth activities.

  2. Are there categories that you would need to report on specifically to include in any existing tracking, like volunteering for ERGs or D&I Events?

  3. Is there a group or resource you turn to for thought leadership that already has a categorization framework you could adopt?

  4. Can you make categories that are easy for employees to select? The last thing you want to do is create such a complicated structure, that employees just choose "Other" by default.
